Invited by Azul Acocsa, Gunni & Trentino, and Dornbracht we visited the outstanding house of La Ricarda.

The house of La Ricarda can be considered one of the best of Spanish rationalist architecture, a small treasure designed by the architect Antonio Bonet. The house is located in the middle of a pine grove by the sea and near the city of Barcelona and its airport. A modular house that extends over the ground under an incredible Catalan vault roof that seems to float among the pines.

The house is located on an artificial platform built on the dunes. In this way, it is freed from all ties to topography and extends with geometric rationality in both directions, according to a system of vaults framed in an innovative language and at the same time preserving local traditions.
